The blogging itch

Posted by

OK, so you may or may not have noticed I have been ‘missing’ from the blogging world for a few weeks. didn’t miss me? Oh *Sulks into a corner to wipe his tears*

The reason for my self-imposed blogging break is because of a few things:
1 – Christmas Sabbatical.
I wanted to enjoy Christmas without blogging. As I have always said I blog for fun/therapy, anything more than that is a bonus. Sometimes the Christmas period gets a bit silly for bloggers and instead of enjoying their blog it becomes a chore having to meet deadlines for gift posts or reviews or blog daily with elf on a blooming shelf!
I tried it myself. I started doing #Blogmas where you post something Christmassy every day but it quickly turned into a situation where I was blogging because I had to and not because I needed it to. I want to enjoy my blogging not do it for the benefit of a company or just so I get hits because I post regular. I’ve always been of the opinion that quality wins over quantity so I would rather blog once a week and it be a good post (or even a couple of times if it includes a picture post like #mysundayphoto), as opposed to writing loads of crappy posts. There are some bloggers who do this and it works for them, there are also bloggers that write everyday and every post is awesome (show offs!!), so I just need to find a balance. Enough to entertain and scratch my itch but few enough that the quality remains as it should.

2 – To blog, or not to blog.
Trying to decide if I should give up blogging. Yes I know I have mentioned this in the past and apologies for going over this AGAIN but to me blogging is an all-or-nothing kinda thing. If you’re not committed to it, it won’t work as half-hearted writing won’t get you anywhere.
So I tried to let the blogging world go. left it to grow without me. Twitter and Facebook (more so twitter) were my releases.

The problem is, I still have the itch. I see situations and the first thought in my head is still to blog about it. Things have happened in our lives that I want to share. I want to share to allow others understand that what they may be going through, is normal and they’re not alone.itch.fwSo it seems the only way to scratch that itch and get the sweet feeling of relief is to blog. So I’m back..again.

I’ve given the blog a mini-makeover. I’ve changed my headers/logos over all social media platforms. So although I normally hate the phrase, I suppose with a new year, comes a new me…well, a new look for the blog anyway!

I would love to know your opinion on my new look blog.

Do you get the itch that only a new blog post will scratch?

As always, Thanks for reading.

  1. Totally get where you are coming from blogging is obsessive no doubt about that but also its really good record somewhere the things that happen in your life hope it works out for you

    1. Thanks Hun.
I’m pretty fussy when it comes to design, especially when I do it all myself and I’m never happy with my own work! Lol
But I think I quite like this one.

Hope to keep the new posts coming.
      Thanks for the comment.

  2. I don’t like feeling like I HAVE to blog either. It’s meant to be a fun way to keep a diary of my family life, so I like to keep it fun.

P.S. The new header is great!

    1. Thanks. Been wanting a change for ages but I’m too fussy. Quite like this one.
I never want blogging to become a chore. I’d hate that and I don’t want to hate blogging.

      Thanks for the comment.
