Don’t drink and drive at Christmas

It nearly Christmas!!!
Christmas time is a time for celebration. A time where people get together with those close to them and create memories. A time for some good food a little tipple. For some, more than a tipple.

According to the DVLA, 744,000 UK drivers said they will be over the limit when they drive this Christmas. And 31% of the 2000 people The Co-operative polled who are planning to drink drive still believe ‘it won’t harm anyone’.
Sadly thats unlikely to be true.

When I was younger I was always Des. No, I don’t mean my name was Des, just that during many nights out I volunteered to be ‘Des’ AKA Designated driver. I’m not much of a drinker so I’m just as happy to go out and drink soft drinks as I am to drink alcohol.

Not every group of friends has a person like me who is happy to be ‘Des’. Some people can’t have a good time without a few drinks and as the figures above show, far too many are happy to have a few drinks and still drive home. What I find shocking is 744,000 people already know they are going to drink drive!

To help to protect lives this Christmas, The Co-operative Insurance have launched a campaign to champion road safety over the winter period and encourage people to designate a driver via their Designated Driver Finder!
unnamed(1)Simply load upto 5 names, select continue, pull the lever and let the wheel decide!

Remember, amongst other things, Christmas is about celebrating family, so use the Designated Driver Finder and don’t drink and drive at Christmas.

As always, thanks for reading.
Have a great Christmas from the whole Dadwhoblogs family.

This is a sponsored post on behalf of the The Co-operative but other than the facts and figures all opinions are my own.
