DWB #Review – Little Tikes review part Deux – 4-in-1 Trike Sports Edition

Posted by

Little Tikes recently contacted me to ask if I would review one of their always popular trikes and to sweeten the deal, they also provided a little something for LB too!

Last time, I reviewed the ‘Jelly Bean Ride-Along’. Head back in time to see if the boys gave it a thumbs up or down!

Next under the spotlight is the Little Tikes 4-in-1 Trike Sports Edition.

What Little Tikes say…
For babies and beginning riders, this attractive trike has been specifically designed to evolve and grow with your child. Use the ergonomic handles to take control of your little one whilst they ride with their feet up on the footrests. When they’re a little bit older, the footrests can be removed for toddlers to practice pedaling and the steering unlocked. Before you know it you’ll be struggling to keep up so just remove the handle and they’ll be able to head off on their own! This trendy deluxe edition trike takes style to the next level with an on-trend pattern, seat pad and large detachable travel bag.

  • 4 stages to grow with your child:

o   Guided – 9 months+

o   Learning – 12 months+

o   Developing – 18 months+

o   Independent – 30 months+

  • Removable shade canopy
  • Durable, quiet-ride tyres
  • Seat adjusts to 4 positions
  • Detachable ergonomic push handle for parent control
  • 5-point seat belt harness and protective safety bar
  • Non-slip pedals that fold away and detach
  • Durable metal/plastic construction
  • Convenient beverage holder
  • Seat padding for added comfort
  • Detachable travel bag

What we say…
Unfortunatley we’ve not had as much chance to get out and about  as we would have liked with the trike, but on the occasions which we have, we’ve been impressed.

Although, not a Little Tykes version, we do already own a version of this trike which means we can give a good opinion of thetrike1 different types on the market.

Immediately when you begin the joyful task of building the TRIKE, you notice straight away how well made the parts are. The current trike we own feels much more flimsy and plastic, but the Little Tykes trike feels strong and sturdy, which can only be a good thing when it’s going to be put through its paces by 2 little ones!

The overall look of the trike is great and with the optional extras such as seat covers are not exactly needed but just like cruise control on a car, it’s a great addition!

trike2The handles make it really easy to control and I love the fact that the handle is at a good height. I’m not the tallest guy in the world, but sometimes these things can be a little bit low.

The travel bag is great for holding things such as nappies, wipes and a few snacks, which means you can go on a little adventure without having to carry around another changing bag.

BB hasn’t quite got to grips with pedalling yet and one of my favourite features of this trike is not mentioned above. There is a little dial on the front of the trike, which enables that when turned (meaning the adult is in control), the pedals stop moving! This is a great feature as with the other brands, even when your pushing the pedals turn and your little ones feet can be clipped and get trapped if they don’t keep their feet tucked underneath them

The Little Tikes 4-in-1 Trike also comes with a little footbrake which is great because on the odd occasion we have tried to put LB into the other trike, it rolls away and you end looking silly as you go to place you child in a seat that no longer exists!

Admittedly there are cheaper alternatives to this trike on the market, but if your happy to ‘invest’ so to speak, it is worth every penny. When pushing the Little Tikes 4-in-1 Trike I can really feel a difference in build quality and I can see this lasting for years to come. Which is lucky because that’s why we buy these, right? So our kids can use them for years as they grow?

We look forward to getting out and about a bit more over the coming months and the Little Tikes 4-in-1 Trike Sports Edition will be coming with us!

The Little Tikes 4-in-1 Trike Sports Edition is available from the Little Tikes with a RRP of £99.99.

As always, thanks for reading.

  1. Hi DWB,
Further to Martin’s query etc. Thinking of buying one of these for our 14 month old. Can the trike be steered properly (i.e control the movements of the front wheel – right, left, straight ahead…) with the parent handle?
    Thanks Lewis!

    1. Yes if I remember rightly there is a little ‘switch’ on front which givees the rider or the pusher control over the front wheels.
      Thanks for the comment

  2. Hi ! I have a 4 in 1 trike pink version ( not deluxe ) and i wanted to know what the right wheel left wheel are about ??? The right wheel has grooves on the inside and the left one doesn’t . I was guessing that since they mass produce these trikes they must have built for a version that has a brake system like mentionned above .
Thank you in advance for your time !!!

    1. Yes, ours has a break system and when you press on the peddle it sits in the groove to stop the trike rolling.

      I hope that explains it.
If you need anything, let me know.

  3. Thank you for this review. I would like to get this for my daughter for xmas (will be 16 months by then) but cant figure out what the difference is between the deluxe and sport editions. Would you be able to shed some light on that?

  4. Hello DWB
It obviously has been a while but just got my lo the 4 in 1 trike and don’t seem to work out about the pedal engaging hub on the front wheel. It says to push it in to engage the pedal but whenever I do that it popes back out. I complained and got sent a new one but it’s the same so I am thinking I might be missing something. I am not sure if I have same model as urs but colour is quiet similar!
